City Lit Access to HE diploma: humanities and social science

The Access to Higher Education Diploma (Humanities and Social Science) is a qualification designed for anyone who has left school without the usual qualifications (GCSEs or A-levels) and wishes to study at university.

It is a highly intensive, fast-track route to higher education, where you will complete the equivalent of 3 A-Levels in one year, and requires attendance ONLINE via ZOOM two nights per week (on Tuesdays and Thursdays) from 6-9.15pm, as well as online tutorials every two to three weeks and substantial private study. These dates and times are non-negotiable and you are required to attend every session. There may also be optional study sessions at our Central London Campus on one evening or Saturday each term.

If you are looking at this course, you will know the value it offers. For this reason, we get a much higher number of applications than the 22 spaces we have. Priority will therefore be given to applications from those who are serious and sure about progressing to degree level study and can demonstrate their commitment to the course schedule and the challenges that the year will bring.

Please plan your submission schedule to reflect that:

  1. it will likely take you a few hours to complete the different sections and consider your timetable from September 2026 to June 2027

  1. responses to tasks/questions which have been aided by the use of AI will automatically be de-prioritised

  1. we will not assess applications or respond to questions between 3 and 17 August 2026

  1. the last date for applying is 7 September 2026

  1. the college reserves the right to admit another student if your loan application or fee is not paid by 10 September 2026 to avoid unfilled places when the course starts on 15 September 2026

Please also note, we have had applicants whose residential status caused their loan application to take longer than British citizens, so please factor this in when you plan the different stages of your application process.

Thank you for applying for the City Lit Access Course.
Best of luck!
